Balanced Leadership / Strong Schools
Balanced Leadership / Strong Schools
Dear Friends,
I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Brookline School Committee.
ABOUT ME
Brookline has been my home since 2000, when I moved here to raise our family. Over the past twenty-six years, our children attended the Michael Driscoll School and graduated from Brookline High School. Brookline’s public schools have played a central role in our family’s life and continue to shape my commitment to public education.
I am a public-school educator and district-level administrator with more than fifteen years of experience in curriculum design, evidence-based instructional implementation, and systems-level improvement. As Director of Mathematics for Medford Public Schools, I work closely with the superintendent, central-office leadership, educators, and families to develop coherent instructional pathways that support student learning and academic achievement.
I hold a Doctor of Education in Leadership in Schooling, with a focus on educational governance, equity, and organizational decision-making. This doctoral preparation informs my approach to policy: carefully weighing trade-offs, anticipating long-term impacts, and grounding decisions in student outcomes while maintaining public trust. I also hold a Master of Business Administration, which I apply to evaluating the long-term financial implications of educational priorities, ensuring resources are aligned with instructional goals, and educators are well supported.
MY GOALS
A balanced approach brings strength.
I am committed to policies that uphold high academic expectations for all while recognizing individual student strengths and learning needs. As a School Committee member, I will advocate for challenging, standards-aligned instruction with appropriate supports so every student can succeed.
Clear alignment between educational priorities and fiscal capacity is essential. I will support transparent budget decisions and thoughtful communication of necessary trade-offs to the community. By promoting collaboration among families, educators, and municipal partners, I will work to ensure that student needs are clearly articulated, widely understood, and sustainably supported.
As a long-time Brookline homeowner, my investment in our schools extends well beyond my children’s graduation. Strong public schools are foundational to a thriving community and benefit all residents. Their success depends on shared responsibility and long-term planning.
WORKING TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Effective school governance requires collaboration. I will work constructively with fellow School Committee members and the superintendent to advance policies that are educationally sound, fiscally responsible, and guided by long-range planning rather than short-term pressures.
I believe deeply in partnerships. Together with my colleagues, I will work to encourage engagement of educators, families, and community stakeholders while maintaining open, consistent, and transparent communication with the Town Meeting, the Select Board, the Advisory Committee, and town staff. Through coordinated planning and shared accountability, we can proactively address challenges, avoid crisis-driven budgeting, and sustain educational excellence.
WHAT MOTIVATES ME TO SERVE
As a mother of four children—each with unique strengths, interests, and learning needs—I understand families’ desire for strong public schools that challenge students academically while providing the support for all students to succeed. This has been my family's experience in the Brookline schools. As a school committee member, I will work to ensure that all Brookline families have the same experience.
I ASK FOR YOUR VOTE ON MAY 5, 2026.
Thank you,
Faiza
